Memories Of Time

from Downtown EP by Wearing Shoes

about

Genevan Alfonso Bottone produces wholesome house music under alias Wearing Shoes. The Swiss based producer released his debut release under Neo Apparatus Records and continues the tradition of soulfully rich sounds with his sophomoric release on 1980 House Recordings titled ‘Downtown EP’. Drawing inspiration from Lonnie Liston Smith to Frankie Knuckles, Wearing Shoes paints beautiful soundscapes of Chicago House, Detroit house and everything in-between on the 4 track EP.
Wearing shoes opens the EP with Deep in Mood’s, a timeless Chicago deep house using soul lifting aesthetics with its lush, jazzy keys sprinkled on an emphatic rhythm. The rhythm section is the real winner here as the four-to-the-floor beat layered with shuttering claps and comforting snares combine to a drummer’s bliss. Sounds of occasional gusts that breeze in from Lake Michigan as an homage to the Windy City of Chicago.
Master of Love’s vocal sample-driven, house jam with an infectious bassline that lifts the heaviest shoes off the ground. Serious rolling groove with rhythmic percussion and synth stabs that poke the track with a lofty attitude. Wearing Shoes compounds ‘Master of Love’ with a dreamy chord progression that produces an intoxicating feelings of carefree love and endless affinity.
Memories of Time is the third track off the Downtown EP with floor warming tendencies. Memories of Time is showered with crystalline synths and cascading vocal loops that bounces nicely together with a metallic bassline. Charmingly crafted for lounging at your favorite cocktail bar.
Closing tune, Someday In Detroit, is an urban soundscape polarized with a coastal twist. Hazed samples of waves crashing onto sedimentary beach rocks and coastal drum patterns slowly erode as the track progresses into a deep house stomper. The coastline vibe slowly erodes with growling, underpinned basslines that rumble like the automotive capital of Detroit.
