The mysterious Russian based producer, Gordigger ZDZX, showcases his production and sampling skills in his latest EP ‘Audio Collage’. An avid vinyl collector, some of his musical influences come from disco, funk, soul, and Chicago house which can be heard in this release.
First track on deck is ‘Maki’, a funky sample based throwback with a complex groove reminiscent of 70’s era funk, with its de-emphasized melodies, rhythmic groove and extended chords, Gordigger ZDZX does a great job chopping this track up giving it his own touch.
‘Tomohawk’, the second track on the EP, an uptempo percussion centric track with raw drums driving the pace of the track, chopped up syncopated guitar riffs and basslines add depth, while the loops add another rhythmic layer putting the listener into a groove.
The final track is ‘Wind & Rain’, a synth driven disco track with hand percussion leading the rhythm section, fluttery synth chords and a ghosted bassline that subconsciously gets the listeners head nodding. ‘Audio Collage’, is an amalgamation of disco, funk, soul and Gordigger ZDZX’s unique sampling style that will definitely please the listeners ears.
